| Hey, it's Lars... |
| I'd like to extend a personal invitation for you and your family to join me for a special, once-in-a-lifetime tour of the Holy Land. We'll enjoy nice 5-star accommodations and great dining throughout. Historical biblical sites, sounds and references will come alive as we cruise across the Sea of Galilee, visit Capernaum, Old Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives. We'll see modern day Israel too with a stop in the bustling seaport of Haifa on the shores of the glistening Mediterranean, we'll visit a military base, and explore the New Jerusalem. Israel is a land of biblical miracles and modern day ones too...rich with historical figures passionate about their land, Theodore Herzl, Yitzhak Rabin and Golda Meir. Her battle for survival has played out throughout the pages of history...it is a place like none other on earth holding special meaning for Jews, Christians and Muslims alike.
I have been there twice myself...and let me tell you, there is nothing like walking on the same ground that Jesus Christ walked two thousand years ago. Tina will be coming with me on this trip and she is looking forward to enjoying her first trip to the Holy Land along with you.

|
Our journey will afford us the opportunity to hear from scintillating speakers and meet some modern day heroes. You'll find out what it's really like to live in Israel. We'll visit the Dead Sea and Masada, the Holocaust Memorial and the Garden Tomb...held by many to be the site of Christ's resurrection. You'll get a perspective you won't find on any other trip. Plus, you'll have some time to play and shop too! I know that every time I visit this special part of the world, I'm more in awe of the history, beauty and spirituality of the land and the people who inhabit it.
Make your reservation now and join me for an unforgettable journey of a lifetime. I look forward to sharing this adventure with you.
Lars

SUNDAY, MARCH 30 - TIBERIAS (B,D)
Visit sites related to Jesus' Ministry in the Galilee. Cruise across the Sea of Galilee on a private wooden boat. On the western shore of the lake, visit The Genosar Boat, a Galilee fishing boat preserved in the muddy sediment for approximately 2,000 years. The boat was revealed in 1986 when drought caused the lake to recede to record low levels. Visit Capernaum where Jesus preached and his disciples, Peter, Andrew, and perhaps others, made their homes. Travel up the Mount of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount and the Miracle of the Fishes. The contemporary church at Tabga celebrates the Miracle of the Multiplication. Note the mosaic floor from a Byzantine-era church. The section in front of the ancient altar depicts two fish and a basket filled with loaves of bread. We will end the day by the River Jordan. Return to Tiberias for dinner and overnight.
MONDAY, MARCH 31 - TIBERIAS (B,L,D)
Meet with Israeli Army commanders and visit the G olan Heights and the Upper Galilee. This morning we drive up to the Golan Heights. Stop in the only city in the area, Katzrin, home of the famous winery, Golan Wines. The Mayor of Katzrin will speak with the group of his experience as an Israeli pioneer. Continue to Mt. Bental for an outstanding view of the Upper Galilee and the Golan Heights. At 12:00PM visit a military base in the Golan Heights. Meet with base commanders and attend a briefing by an Israeli Army spokesperson about the operational challenges of the recent terror campaign. Have lunch at a kibbutz that was periodically bombarded by the Syrians up until 1967. Continue to the ruins of the prehistoric settlement at Tel Dan, once a thriving Canaanite community and the northern limit of the Promised Land. Continue to Banias, the biblical Caesarea Philippi, site of the Banias Spring, a source of the Jordan River. It figures in the New Testament as the place where Jesus designated Peter as "the rock" on which the church would be built. Return to Tiberias for dinner and overnight. Dinner Speakers: the family of an Israeli soldier kidnapped and killed by Hezbollah in 2000
TUESDAY, APRIL 01 - TIBERIAS (B,D)
Visit Safed and the Northern Border with Lebanon, all a reas under Hezbollah attack in the summer of 2006. Begin the day in the Cabalistic city of Safed, one of the four holiest cities in Judaism. There will be ample time to visit the city's ancient synagogues and art galleries. Continue through Moshav Dalton and Alma to Nebi Yesha, high in the Galilee. This is the site of an old British police station from which the Arabs would attack Jewish villages until 1948. Visit the memorial, rarely seen by foreign tourists. Then take the Northern Road which runs almost parallel to the Israel/Lebanon border. Stop in the community of Avivim, where a Palestinian terrorist attacked a school bus full of children in 1970, leaving many of them dead. We will meet with one of the survivors and learn something of what it means to live under constant terror; terror inflicted first by Palestinians and now, for the last 20 years, by Hezbollah. Continue to Rosh Hanikra, one of Israel's most unusual natural phenomena. Return to Tiberias for dinner and overnight.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 02 - JERUSALEM (B,D)
Witness co-existence of Jews and Arabs in Israel. Today's experience and discussion will focus on the Arab citizens of Israel; how they differ from the Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza and other places, as well as what they have in common. Drive to Haifa, Israel's largest port and third largest city. Haifa is located on Mt. Carmel and the Mediterranean Sea and is one of Israel's few mixed Jewish Arab cities. At Gefen House, a Jewish Arab Community Center, we will meet with community leaders for an open discussion on the Israeli Arab relationship. Have lunch in Haifa. Then drive southward along the Mediterranean. Stop in Caesarea, a large port city built by Herod the Great to honor Roman Caesar Augustus. Once completed, Caesarea was the heart of Roman rule in the land. In order to supply water to the city, he built an aqueduct system stretching from the springs of Mt. Carmel to Caesarea. Part of this system is still visible today. Visit the new visitor's center and see the virtual city as it was 2,000 years ago. Continue to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. Our hotel, DAN PANORAMA, is a 5-star property built in the beautiful Jerusalem Stone and located within easy walking distance of the Old City and downtown Jerusalem. All rooms have air-conditioning, direct-dial telephone, cable TV, and safe box. Hotel facilities include a roof-top swimming pool and sun deck (summer only), fitness room and sauna. www.danhotels.com Dinner Speaker: Historian Dr. Ephraim Inbar will give an historical/military briefing about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
THURSDAY, APRIL 03 - JERUSALEM (B,D)
Biblical Jerusalem Start the day with a drive to Ramat Rachel for a breathtaking view of Bethlehem, Boaz' Fields and the Shepherds' fields. Then drive to the Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of Jerusalem. Continue on foot to one of the newest churches in Jerusalem, Dominus Flevit. During construction in 1955, archaeologists uncovered artifacts dating back to the Canaanite period and tombs from both the Second Temple and Byzantine eras. Also unearthed were the remains of a lovely Byzantine shrine with an elaborate mosaic floor that was incorporated into the church. Originally built in 379 AD, the Church of Gethsemane was rebuilt in 1919 - 1924. Long considered one of the most beautiful in Jerusalem, it was called the Church of all Nations because 16 nations contributed to its construction. The Garden of Gethsemane lies at the foot of the Mount of Olives. Today it appears as it did 20 centuries ago and within it are some of the world's oldest olive trees. The garden was a spot favored by Jesus and it was here that He often came for His retreats and prayer. Enter the Old City through the Dung Gate. Visit the Davidson Center with its new, multi-media presentation about Jerusalem in the days of Jesus. Then walk to the Western Wall, the only visible remains of the Second Temple and the holiest site in all Judaism. It may be possible to witness a Bar Mitzvah ceremony by the Wall as they are celebrated every Monday and Thursday. Then visit the recent excavations of the Western Wall Tunnel, huge arched spaces just north of the Western Wall. End at the Christian Quarter of the Old City and walk the Way of the Cross, the Via Dolorosa, to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. In 325 AD, Constantine's mother Helen first requisitioned the area for a church. The 4th century church was largely destroyed by the Turks in 1009 AD, and partially restored in 1048 AD. The impressive stone decorations adorning the facade date from Crusader times. In its current form, the church preserves the Crusader structure and is shared by two major Christian denominations, the Greek Orthodox and the Roman Catholic. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. Dinner Speaker: a Jewish Israeli journalist
FRIDAY, APRIL 04 - JERUSALEM (B,D)
The New City of Jerusalem At 9:00AM, arrive at Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial. A special Yizkor Service (Remembrance) will be held at the Valley of the Communities. Continue to the Military Cemetery at Mt. Herzl with the tombs of Theodore Herzel, Golda Meir, and Itzhak Rabin. On behalf of the group, we will place a wreath of flowers on Rabin's tomb. In the afternoon, we will be joined by representatives of the only joint Arab Jewish radio station, Kol Hashalom (Voice of Peace), located in East Jerusalem. We end our day with a visit to the Garden Tomb. Many Protestant denominations hold the Garden Tomb to be the location of the Resurrection. Return to the hotel for Shabbat dinner and overnight.
SATURDAY, APRIL 05 - JERUSALEM (B,D)
Today is pure fun in Masada and the Dead Sea. Depart Jerusalem and drive east to the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth. Continue to Masada. Take the cable car to the top of the rock and see the Roman palaces, store houses, synagogues and bath house, which witnessed the Jewish resistance to the Romans approximately 2,000 years ago. Descend by cable car and drive to the Dead Sea for a float on the water. See Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found in 1947. Return to Jerusalem for dinner and overnight. Dinner Speaker: a Palestinian journalist
SUNDAY, APRIL 06 - JERUSALEM (B,D)
Today we will see the horror of the past and hope for t he future. For the first two hours of the morning, we will visit several sites in Jerusalem that suffered horrible terrorist attacks, such as bus # 17, Cafe Momento, and other places on the terror list in Jerusalem. Then we will visit a school operated by the Hand in Hand organization, where Israeli and Palestinian students study side by side. The afternoon is free to wander in Jerusalem on your own.
